The Opening Ceremony of “StartupFest 2019” has been held
On November 25, 2019, there was held the official opening ceremony of “StartupFest 2019” which is an international festival connecting various startups.
Ulvi Mehdiyev, Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, spoke about panel sessions, as well as planned events in Baku and Ganja cities within the framework of “StartupFest 2019”. Influence of latest advancements of technology on human life, as well as to the provision of public services, digital transformation in our country, steps taken by the government and vision of the future was also drawn to attention.
Following the opening ceremony, there were discussions on “Digital Transformation in Public Sector: Possibilities and Challenges”.
In the aforementioned panel, there were discussed digital transformation in the public sector, as well as works done in this field so far. Moreover, application of digital transformation in public sector, as well uses of perspectives and methods made by digital technology in public administration were highlighted.
Jeyhun Salmanov -Deputy Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Vusal Gasimli- Executive Director at Center for Economic Reforms and Communication, Sahib Mammadov - Deputy Minister of Economics, Ilhama Guliyeva- Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Dunay Badirkhanov - Deputy Chairman of “”Azercosmos” JSC, Ahmed Yapici - Chairman of “Turksat” Digital Government and Information Society also made a speech.
Moderator of the event was Fariz Jafarov, Chairman of E-Gov Development Center subordinate to the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
“StartupFest 2019” is held for the first time through the initiative of “INNOLAND” Incubation and Acceleration Center of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The main purpose of the festival is to gather all players of the startup ecosystem in the region, as well as in Azerbaijan through opening new opportunities for experience exchange, having discussions for the development of the ecosystem, solution of current problems and turning Azerbaijan into a regional centre in this direction.
One of the main characteristics of the event is it gathers 6 internationally licensed events that cover startups, problems related to startups, as well as measures to solve these problems.
