A plenary session dedicated to “ASAN Service” was held at the United Nations

A delegation led by Ulvi Mehdiyev, Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, paid a visit to the United States of America.

As a part of visit, the Chairman of the State Agency participated in a high-level plenary session held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, organized with the support of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs.

The plenary session was dedicated to the topic “Innovations in Public Service Delivery to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. The aim was to inform the member states of the organization about the activities to be carried out within the framework of the Contribution Agreement signed between the Government of Azerbaijan and the United Nations on November 11, 2024. Additionally, the main objectives included promoting the “ASAN Service” model, as well as conducting expert discussions and exchanging experiences on innovative solutions in public services. 

The event brought together over 100 participants, including ambassadors from the permanent missions of various countries to the UN representing different continents, heads of relevant government institutions, officials from international organizations, sectoral experts, and members of the academic community.

Navid Nanif, the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nation, highlighted that Azerbaijan’s “ASAN Service” model was awarded the UN Public Service Award in 2015 and was also honored with the “Most Advanced Public Service in the World” award at the World Governments Summit held in the United Arab Emirates in 2023.

Ulvi Mehdiyev noted that “ASAN Service”, established on the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev, will contribute strengthen governance capacity in UN member states by supporting the development of innovative public services, thereby promoting transparent, accessible, and efficient public administration. 
It is worth remembering that, withing the framework of the Trust Fund established between the United Nations and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan in November of last year, the UN will promote the export of our country’s intellectual brand “ASAN Service” experience across four continents.

During the session, the head of relevant department at the United Nations and the director of the International Relations Department of the State Agency delivered detailed presentations on the tasks to be carried out within the project framework and on the “ASAN Service.

Representatives of foreign countries and international organizations emphasized that our country’s advanced experience in public services will be beneficial on a global scale
