The project “Elderly Volunteers” has started
As part of the memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan and the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - the project “Elderly Volunteers” has started.
Within the framework of the project, some of the pensioners, living in the Ministry’s social service facilities for the individuals reached the Retirement age, have been involved in volunteer activities at “ASAN service” centers. During a period of 1 month, under the slogan "Volunteering knows no age limit" the elderly will be assisting in procedures such as registration and supervision of children in the playground, management of citizen flow, referrals of applications to relevant sections, receiving feedbacks from citizens related to services and etc.
The goal of the project is by means of ASAN Volunteer School to engage elderly people in active ageing, experience exchanging, to effectively organize their leisure time, to invite them to play an active role in the community and give them an opportunity for social integration and meeting with new people.
It is envisaged to expand the scope of the project in the future.
