“ASAN service” starts New Project with the UN
During a visit to the United States, a delegation led by Ulvi Mehdiyev, Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, participated in the 23rd session of the UN Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA) held in New York.

The Chairman of the State Agency spoke at the CEPA session titled “Exchange of Promising Practices among Voluntary National Report Countries and Voluntary Local Report Cities for the Implementation of the 16th and 17th Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”. During the speech, detailed information was provided about the activities of “ASAN service” created on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, as well as projects implemented by the State Agency towards achieving the 16th and 17th SDGs. Additionally, the international achievements of “ASAN service” and the significance of various trainings conducted by the “ASAN Center for Innovative Development” were highlighted.
During the visit, Ulvi Mehdiyev met with Li Junhua, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs. During the meeting, the successful cooperation between the State Agency and the relevant UN department since 2013 was discussed. The counterpart noted that “ASAN service” has been awarded high honors by the UN twice and emphasized the importance of applying this model in other countries.
It was agreed to implement a new cooperation project between the State Agency and the UN for the application of the “ASAN service” model in various countries.
Additionally, a meeting was held with Ivana Zivković, Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau. The Chairman of the State Agency gave a comprehensive presentation on the activities of “ASAN service”. The counterpart recalled the projects implemented between the State Agency and the UNDP in the past and expressed readiness for further cooperation in relevant directions.
During the visit, the Chairman of the State Agency, at the invitation of the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Farid Gayibov, met with Azerbaijani students studying in New York and neighboring states, as well as our youth living there.
